I am a writer, guerilla translator, and dog trainer who lives in a nowhere part of Texas that is slowly losing the battle against Suburbia. I'm interested in fantasy and horror fiction; the politics of place, land, and identity; anti-capitalism; anarchism; and queer liberation. I care very deeply about human-made art (hence making my home on the Old Web), and I think right now everyone should be making and sharing and supporting independent art as an act of resistance against a mass media ecosystem that more and more eschews true human artistic expression in favor of mass appeal.
I also have a dog named Jesse (who you might find pattering around this site). He's a fifty-pound pit bull that I found wandering the streets when he was nine months old. He's two now, and I love him with all my heart!
Why is it called "The Lost Art of Twilight?"
It's named after one of my favorite short stories ever, "The Lost Art of Twilight" by Thomas Ligotti. It's about a half-vampire preparing for a visit from their human relatives. It's also about the horrors of being alive. (Most of Ligotti's stories are about the horrors of being alive.)
What are some of your other favorite pieces of art?
The Magnus Archives (of course). Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. The Robot Series by Isaac Asimov. The movie Assassin 33 A.D. (and I mean that unironically!). The games Hades, Stardew Valley, and Skyrim (I know, but the heart loves what it loves).
I can't think of any more pretend questions.
